Your �ղ�� Semester Global Internship program in Seoul lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: a full-time internship with an international organization (approximately 30 hours per week), an internship seminar, and the option to take a course taught online through �ղ��’s global academic partner, ASU. �ղ�� Seoul offers diverse housing options to ensure you’re comfortable in your home away from home. With shared or single rooms off campus, we will strive for your accommodation preferences to be met. All housing options are in neighborhoods with convenient access to public transportation, shops, cafés, and eateries.  

Standard Housing: Includes a double-occupancy bedroom in a dormitory on campus or a residence hall off-campus, within a 50-minute commute to �ղ�� Seoul and a 30-minute commute to Hanyang campus.

Select Plus Housing: Includes single rooms in a residence hall off-campus, within a 30-minute commute to �ղ�� Seoul and Hanyang campus. Select housing requires an additional fee.  

A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.

Meals

Meals are not provided as part of the program, but students may have access to facilities for preparing their own meals. Seoul offers an array of dining options, from street food vendors to upscale restaurants, allowing you to explore Korean cuisine at your leisure.

�ղ�� Seoul: Study in the Seodaemun district on the campus of Yonsei University, where �ղ�� Seoul is located. Students are encouraged to enjoy all the facilities Yonsei offers, including its numerous cafés, cafeterias, coffee shops, printing facilities, classrooms, and a conference room for academic advising and student life support. The campus is conveniently located near the city’s public transportation network, making it easy to navigate to cultural attractions and landmarks.

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by �ղ�� in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with optional online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the �ղ�� academic calendar.

Students are responsible for having their own course approval conversations with their advisors. Requirements

All Global Semester Internship participants take the 9-credit full-time internship with the required embedded internship seminar, plus an optional ASU online course (ASU session A in spring, and ASU session B in fall) for a total of 9-13 semester credits.

Academic Culture

�ղ�� courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The integrated academic course, which correlates with the internship, is taught in-person and asychronously. Students are expected to dress and behave professionally throughout their internship and are subject to the agreed-upon internship protocols arranged by �ղ�� and the host organization.

ASU Courses: Most ASU online courses are asynchronous. You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. You’ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online.

Class Format

Students participate in a full-time in-person internship and required academic course featuring both in-person class sessions and online asynchronous work designed to help students develop professional and intercultural competencies to complement their internship experience.

ASU online courses meet in “sessions” that are 7.5 weeks long in the semester, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other �ղ�� courses begin or end.

Grading

The U.S. grading scale of A-F is used. Students are graded on the basis of in-class and online engagement and preparation, and specific assessments such as project work, presentations, and examinations.

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via �ղ��'s School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.

^†�Ġ†Korean National Medical Insurance. All international students are legally required to enroll in Korea’s national health insurance program. All are enrolled automatically as soon as they apply for the required Residence Card. A bill is sent on a monthly basis (approximately $56 per month). The insurance covers up to 80% of inpatient treatments and medical services and 30-70% of outpatient treatments and services.
